Leadership in Action: Annual Alumni Reception Honorees
On May 2nd, more than 200 Columbia Business School alumni spanning 50 graduation years gathered for the 2019 Real Estate Alumni Reception, which is presented in partnership with the Real Estate Circle. The Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate had the pleasure of honoring a Distinguished Real Estate Partner and three Distinguished Real Estate Faculty for their invaluable contributions and commitment to real estate education at Columbia Business School. Matthew Lustig, Head of Investment Banking & Head of Real Estate at Lazard, and Camille Douglas, Michael Giliberto, and Andrew Jacobs ’96 were all recognized at the vibrant reception, which draws alumni from near and far.

Where in the World: MBA Real Estate Students Visit Mexico City
In March, a group of MBA students and representatives from the Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate traveled to Mexico for a real estate study tour sponsored by the Jerome A. Chazen Institute for Global Business. The group spent 7 full days in Oaxaca and Mexico City, splitting their time between professional and cultural activities in order to learn about the nuances of the local market.

Real Estate Students’ Winning Case Competition Envisions Redevelopment of Boston’s City Hall
The team, including Kevin Cullen ’19, Oscar Hentschel ’19, Taylor Pierce ’19, and Sophie Nitkin ’20, took home the top prize at the CASE competition hosted by Harvard Business School. The annual competition—started in 2009 by the Alumni Association for the MIT Center for Real Estate (AACRE)—challenges teams to analyze and submit proposals for a complex, mixed-use development site.

Land Acquisition Opportunity Wins the 2019 Alexander Bodini Foundation Prize
On May 7th, four teams of second-year MBA students took part in the Alexander Bodini Foundation Competition in Uris Hall. Kevin Cullen ’19, Kenny Thompson ’19, Craig Massie ’19, and J.C. Hay ’19 won first place for their analysis of a land acquisition opportunity presented on behalf of Avanti Properties.
